London Node, based at The Anna Freud Centre, London, United Kingdom
35 hours per week, 24 month fixed term contract
Salary 47,000 euros per annum, plus travel and mobility allowances
The Marie Curie Research Training Network “DISCOS – Disorders and Coherence of the Embodied Self” is an attempt to investigate the fundaments of the human person through an interdisciplinary endeavour of both the biomedical sciences and the humanities. Disorders of the self, i.e. of self-awareness, agency and identity, result from varying combinations of neurobiological, psychological and social factors, and include e.g. post-traumatic and somatoform disorders, depression and severe personality disorders. http://www.discos-rtn.eu
The London node of the Research Training Network is conducting research seeking to identify neural processes linked to the processing of emotions in infancy and to examine the contribution made by attachment relationships to the way the brain responds to emotion using high-density EEG methodology.
We are looking for a post-doctoral scientist with experience in using EEG and/or ERP methodologies to join our new infant neuroscience lab. The Anna Freud Centre Early Development EEG Lab is a state of the art infant and child neuroscience facility, fully equipped with high-density EGI EEG/ERP acquisition and analysis systems and psycho-physiological recording equipment, including EMG for startle studies, heart rate, and galvanic skin response. The successful candidate will play a central role in devising and running experiments in social-affective neuroscience involving non-clinical and clinical populations of infants and young children. The position is funded by an EU Marie Curie Research Training Network grant and involves collaborations with eight universities across Europe as well as Yale University’s Child Study Center in the US.
